Stevens Towing Company, Inc. has a full-time position available for a Shipyard Lead Person. This position requires one to have experience in drydocking tugs, barges, and other marine vessels. This position requires the employee to be willing to work all shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as required and needed.
The Shipyard Lead Person oversees some aspects of the work on customer equipment and is responsible and accountable for the performance of shipyard personnel for safety, quality, cost, and scheduling including the administrative functions needed to support the customer’s project. The Shipyard Lead Person is responsible for helping to execute projects in line with customer requirements and Stevens Towing Co., Inc.’s policies and procedures while delivering excellent customer service. The Shipyard Lead Person promotes Stevens Towing Co., Inc.’s professional and safety conscious working environment and to perform other duties as requested or required.
Primary Responsibilities:
Must oversee production work on customer equipment, ensuring that:
Production workers are focused and productive at their assigned duties
All work meets appropriate quality requirements
Safety procedures and policies are followed
Hours and costs are recorded accurately
Work is planned with care so that customer schedule requirements are met
Accurate, timely, and sufficiently detailed information is communicated to management to support decision-making, including labor and resource allocation among current projects and estimates for future project bids
Must coordinate work and resources with fellow supervisors and other production team leaders so that the production operation can operate efficiently and profitably.
Must interact effectively with the customer’s representatives while meeting their schedule and daily requirements.
Must ensure that the correct materials are ordered and delivered on a timely basis.
Responsible for providing other support as needed by the shipyard supervisor and other managers.
Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe shipyard, and fostering a well-trained and motivated staff.
Required to direct project activities in areas of safety, personnel, production, scheduling, material handling and quality, and ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies.
Required to participate in random drug screens as a condition of employment.
